Samuel ‘Sam' L. Kletz, 55, of Bloomington passed away surrounded by his loving family at 1:27 p.m. on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Heartland Community Church in Normal with Pastor Ed Wright and Pastor Jason Collins officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.
Sam was born on May 23, 1963 in Bloomington a son to Irwin Delmar and Ruth Allene Cope Kletz.
Surviving are his children, Casondra Nichole ‘Cassie' (Kevin Chappell) Kletz of Corydon, IN and Eric Anthony Kletz of Bloomington; stepchildren, Tricia Bosquez and Ryan Bosquez both of Bloomington; a Special Granddaughter, Jordan Miller; a brother, Daniel (Donna) Kletz of Bloomington, and three sisters, Debra (Ronald) Slone of Crossville, TN, Sandy Holloway of Bloomington, and Nancy Kletz (Jeff Merritt) of Bloomington. Sam is also survived by many nieces and nephews, his Adopted Parents Clovis Glen and Leanne Harrell and his fur baby, Bailey, his German Shepherd.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece Brooke Kayleene Merritt.
Sam was employed as a mechanic for many years, working with different local dealerships. Most recently he was employed with Preferred Automotive Services in Bloomington until his illness no longer allowed him to work.
Sam enjoyed fishing with his nephew and friends he considered his "brothers." He will be remembered as an awesome mechanic, great friend, adopted uncle, and a selfless man with a funny sense of humor. Sammy will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
