Shirley Hartley

Bloomington - Shirley Hartley, 83, of Bloomington, passed away on October 5, 2019 at her residence.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at theOzark House in Bloomington. Memorials may directed to Hudson Methodist Church. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.

Shirley was born on September 17, 1936 in Hudson, Illinois, to A. L. and Frieda Boggs. She married Charles Hartley on July 6, 1956. He preceded her in death in 2014.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Ann Downen; children, Sue (Steve) Webb, Janet (Doug) Smith, Karen (Dan) Smiley, Linda Hartley and Patrick (Gail) Hartley. She had 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Donald Boggs and brother-in-law, Wayne Downen.

Shirley and Chuck traveled many places after he retired in 1994. She was especially fond of her trips to St. Pete's Beach Florida to visit friends. She will be remembered for her jokes and playing bocce ball on weekends around Central Illinois.

The family would like to thank the staff at Synergy for their compassionate care of Shirley so she could remain at home.
