Shirley Link, 100, passed away peacefully at her home in Bloomington on December 30, 2019. Her funeral will be at Noon, Saturday January 4 at Kibler Brady Ruestman Memorial Home with Rev. Maurice Hilt officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to Noon Saturday at the memorial home. Shirley will be laid to rest at Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington.

Shirley was born September 26, 1919 in Chicago to the union of Thomas and Carrie Basterfield. She married John F. Link Sr. He preceeded her in death. She was also preceeded in death by her parents, infant daughter Nancy, two sisters Lucille Seaholm and Phyllis Rocks and three sons-in-law Thomas Walters, Richard Owen and Duane DeMay. She was also proceeded in death by her uncle and aunt Carl and Christine Morris, who raised her from a young age and their son, James Morris, who was like a brother to her.

She is survived by 7 children: Karen Walters, Frances Owen, Patricia Schmidt, John (Carol) Link Jr, Donald Link, William Link, Julia DeMay, 27 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and pet, Ivy the cat.

She worked for Time Life Magazine in Chicago as a proof reader and filer, Admiral Corporation, Grand Hotel frying their famous chicken and Owen Nursery for 33 years.

She retired from Owen Nursery at the young age of 89 and enjoyed going to "school" at Advocate BroMenn Adult Day Services. Here she made many friends, enjoyed making crafts, playing trivia, going on outings and loved all the staff.

She was a grandma to everyone and loved by all who knew her. She loved flowers, game shows, Lawrence Welk, her family, cats, dogs, birds, Chicago Cubs and ISU Redbirds
