Heyworth – Steve Laskowski, 73, of Heyworth, passed away at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at his home.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomington with Pastor Chuck Bahn officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at the church and also from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Wednesday. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Entombment will be in Park Hill Cemetery Mausoleum in Bloomington. Memorial contributions may be left to Gideon’s International or to the Trinity Lutheran School Properties Fund.
Steve was born on October 6, 1949 in Bloomington, a son to Dale and Beverly (Bonke) Laskowski. He married Mickey White on August 12, 1972 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomington.
Surviving are his wife, Mickey Laskowski of Heyworth; son, Jeff (Sarah Duford) Laskowski of Bloomington; sisters, Cheryl Corbitt of Muskego, Wisconsin, Teri (Mike) Meismer of Bloomington, and Diane (Steve) Nalefski of Bloomington; grandson, Ayden Duford of Bloomington; aunt, Carol (Wayne) Springer of Bloomington; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, Godchildren, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his uncle and Godfather, Melvin Bonke.
Steve was a graduate of Bloomington High School and Illinois State University. He worked for State Farm Insurance for many years. Steve was involved in the Bloomington community in a variety of ways. He was an Eagle Scout and was a long time Scout Master of Troop 38. He was also an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served on many committees and helped with several projects. He was a very giving person, who loved his family and enjoyed sharing recipes and giving thoughtful gifts.
