Bloomington - Steven R. Williams, 49, of Bloomington passed away at 6:55 a.m. of cardiac arrest, at his residence on Monday, July 2, 2018. Visitation will be Friday, July 6 from 4-7 p.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church of Bloomington. The funeral service will held at 11 a.m., with a one-hour visitation prior to the funeral on Saturday, July 7, 2018, with Pastor Justin Iverson officiating.
Interment will be at Funks Grove Cemetery, in Funks Grove Township, Illinois. Memorials may be directed to the Children's Christmas Party for Unemployed Families in care of Laborers Local 362, 2012 Fox Creek Road, Bloomington, IL 61701. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Steve was born on June 26, 1969 in Normal, IL, the son of Robert and Mary (McCammon) Williams. He married Sara E. Klug on July 10, 1993 in Wausau, WI. Surviving are his wife, Sara Williams of Bloomington; two children, Clara and Parker Williams, at home; his parents, Robert and Mary Williams, of Bloomington; sister, Jennifer L. (Paul) Jensen of Johns Creek, GA; brother, Eric M. (Betsy) Williams, of Etna, NH; parents-in-law, Andrew and Donna Krieg, of Wausau, WI; brothers-in-law, John (Deb) Klug, and Dave (Michelle) Klug, both of Wausau, WI; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Steve grew up in Bloomington and was a graduate of Bloomington High School, Class of 1987 where he was a member of the speech team and was involved in the theatre program.
Steve graduated from DePauw University, Greencastle, IN where he was a History major, a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, and played string and electric bass in the University Jazz Band. He continued his education and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Valapraiso Law School, Valparaiso, IN. While there he clerked for the Dean of the Law School.
After graduation he joined the law firm of Williams & Swee, Ltd. in Bloomington in 1995, specializing in Workers Compensation and Social Security. He was a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and the Illinois Workers Compensation Associations.
Steve was dedicated to his clients. He was a loving husband, father, son and brother. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Condolences and memories of Steve may be shared with the family at www.kiblerbradyruestman.com.
