Bloomington - Susan Marie Cufaude, 90 of Bloomington, passed away at 12:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Luther Oaks in Bloomington.
A private interment will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Park Hill Cemetery in Bloomington with Rev. Howard Daughenbaugh officiating. Then, A Celebration of Life reception will follow at Luther Oaks at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Luther Oaks Foundation Benevolent Fund, Compassus Hospice, Bloomington; Community Cancer Center, Normal, or a charity of your choice. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Susan was born on April 18, 1927 in Jefferson City, MO. At the age of 11 days Susan was adopted by a wonderful couple, Lon and Fannie Postle and grew up on their farm in Champaign County. She attended Illinois Wesleyan University where she majored in Music. She met her husband, Ralph E. Cufaude while attending Wesleyan and was married on December 21, 1947. He passed away on June 13, 1999.
Surviving are her three daughters, Nancy Ann Cufaude of Silverton, OR, Jacquelyn Sue (Larry) Smith of Plymouth, MN and Jaynie (Tom) Ramirez of Bloomington; two grandchildren, Stephanie (Dustin) Casey of Noblesville, IN and Dane (Kim) Ramirez of Bloomington; three great grandchildren, Connor, Colbie, and Avery Casey all of Noblesville, IN. Susan was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Jean Legner.
Susan was a State Farm employee for 20 years, working as an executive secretary. She attended the First United Methodist Church in Normal for many years, playing with the Jubilee Handbells and singing in the Chancel Choir. She loved being involved in all music activities. She moved to Luther Oaks in June 2012 where she joined the Chimes Club and participated in many of their activities. She knew everyone by name and made many friends. We will all miss her kindness and loving heart.
