Bloomington - Sylma "Jean" Beck, 91 of Bloomington passed away at 5:28 a.m. on Monday, February 19, 2018 at the Bickford House in Bloomington.

Her funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial in Bloomington with Chaplain Shirley Ryan officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to her service at the memorial home.

Entombment will be at East Lawn Mausoleum in Bloomington. Memorials may be directed to Alzheimer's Association or donor's choice.

Jean was born on February 13, 1927 in Norris City, Illinois, a daughter to Ebert and May M. Oliver Austin. She married Kenneth I. Beck on March 15, 1946 in Carmi, Illinois. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage together. He preceded her in death on November 5, 2011.

Surviving are two daughters, Judy Rowe of Denton, TX and Marty Beck of Bloomington; grandchildren, Troy (Cheryl) Graham of Normal, Michelle (Drew) Williams of Denton, TX, Matthew Graham of Conway, SC; great grandchildren, Elizabeth Graham, Maggie Williams and Lily Williams; and a brother, Leon (Kay) Austin of Evansville.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Howard "Bud" Austin and Ellis Austin; 9 brothers in-law and 8 sisters in-law.

Jean was hired as a telephone operator at General Telephone Company and had various positions over the next 17 years, retiring in the accounting department.

She loved her family, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends and enjoyed spending time with them.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of the staff at the Bickford House for their exceptional care and kindness shown to Jean and her family.
