Thomas Ketchmark, Jr.

Bloomington - Thomas Dean "Tommy" Ketchmark, Jr., 50, of Champaign, formerly of Bloomington and Minonk, passed away at 6:19 a.m. on Friday, January 20, 2017 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 24, 2017 from 5:00-7:30 p.m. at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. His Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Minonk with Fr. Stephen McKinley officiating. Burial will follow at Minonk Township Cemetery.

Tommy was born on April 15, 1966, a son of Thomas Dean, Sr. and Pearl Jacqulyn "P.J." Davis Ketchmark.

Surviving is his mother, P.J. Ketchmark of Minonk; three sisters, Colleen (Wayne) Weber, Christie (Randy) Ruestman and Cindy (Craig) Meyer, all of Minonk; nieces and nephews, Cody, Logan and Abby Weber, Morgan (Rick) Koehler, Jordan (Jon) Meyer, Trent (Tracy) Ruestman and Zach, Nick and Kenzie Meyer; and great nieces and nephews, Cali, Braxton, Ricki, Clayton Koehler and Bentley Weber.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Thomas Dean, Sr.; and a niece, Lindsay Weber.

Tommy graduated from Minonk-Dana-Rutland High School in 1984. He was a 30-year employee of the United States Postal Service. During that time, he worked as a clerk, carrier and mail handler serving in the Minonk, Bloomington and Champaign offices.

Tommy was a thoughtful and kind person, with a generous soul; generous not only to his family, but everyone around him and anyone who crossed his path. He believed in "paying it forward" and consistently gave to those in need. He taught us to be true to ourselves, always love one another, be grateful for what we have, give to others and smile.

Thank you to the medical staff who cared for Tommy during his 6-week battle with brain cancer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Heartland Community College Foundation - Donny Bounds Nursing Scholarship.
