Bloomington - Vincent A. ‘Vince' Sanzotta, 86, of Bloomington passed away at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 19, 2018 at McLean County Nursing Home in Normal.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Epiphany Catholic Church in Normal with Msgr. Eric Powell officiating. Visitation will be from 4:30-7:00 p.m. on Friday at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington with Rosary Recital at 4:00 p.m and one hour prior to mass on Saturday at the church.
Entombment will be in Evergreen Mausoleum in Bloomington with Full Military Honors. Memorials may be directed to Gifts to Yanks Who Gave or Illinois Premier Boys State.
Vince was born on September 11, 1931 in Peoria, a son to Angelo and Marina Sanzotta. He married Margaret M. McLaughlin on November 29, 1958 in Peoria.
Surviving is his wife, Margaret M. Sanzotta of Bloomington; sons, Patrick Sanzotta of Huntley and Matthew Sanzotta of Bloomington; daughter, Beth (Tom) Kearfott of El Paso; grandchildren, Jayme (Eric) Carlson, Sadie Sanzotta, Erin (Brian) Arends, Casey (Tim) Dawson, Zach Sanzotta, Taylor Sanzotta, Jordon Seitz; great grandchildren, Chase Carlson and Maggie Arends and two more on the way and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Concetta and Antoinette
Vince proudly served in the United States Army in Korea and Vietnam. He was Company Commander of Bloomington Unit 1970 retiring with Rank of Colonel.
He was employed by the American Legion Department of Illinois, retiring after 39 years. Later he worked as court clerk for McLean County Law and Justice Center in Bloomington.
Vince was a member of the American Legion Post 635, VFW Post 454, Disabled American Veterans, Bloomington Moose Lodge 745, Knights of Columbus #574 and Epiphany Catholic Church.
The family would like to thank McLean County Nursing Home for their loving care of Vince and support to his family.
