Viola "Vi" Kothe

Viola “Vi” Clara (Ahrens) Kothe of 601 Lutz Road, Bloomington, Illinois departed this life at 2:08 a.m. Wednesday June 22, 2022.  She lived to the age of 92 years and 26 days. 
She was born May 27, 1930 in Addison, Illinois, the daughter of Bernhard and Clara (Finke) Ahrens. She was baptized on June 8, 1930 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Addison.  She was confirmed at St. Paul in 1944.
She married Albert Kothe on September 12, 1953 in Addison, Illinois.
She is survived by one son Kevin (Doris) of Bloomington; two grandsons, Jonathan and Joshua Kothe; and one sister, Norma Kothe. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Albert, a brother Gerhard Ahrens, and a sister Laura Brumund.  
Vi was employed in clerical and financial related fields.  Prior to her retirement in 1983, she was employed with the Bank of Illinois, Prairie State Bank and the Bank of Lexington.
She was a lifelong Lutheran and a member of Christ Lutheran Church since moving to the area in 1953.  She enjoyed singing in the choir and served as congregation treasurer for many years. She had a gift for poetry and wrote hymn verses for special occasions in the congregation.
In her retirement, she enjoyed playing bridge and spending time with her family and friends.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or to a charity chosen by the donor.  Kibler-Brady-Ruestman is in charge of arrangements.
Entombment will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens.
