Violet Hempstead

Bloomington - Violet Alice Hempstead, 100, of Brooksville, Florida, formerly of Bloomington, passed away at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at her residence.

Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Park Hill Cemetery in Bloomington. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Violet was born June 7, 1918 in Bloomington, a daughter to Emil and Frieda Gottschalk Miller. She married Merle Hempstead on November 21, 1945 in Bloomington, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1972.

Surviving are her sons, Jeffrey (Janet) Hempstead of Columbia, MO, Douglas (Betty) Hempstead of North Carolina, and Gregory (Karen) Hempstead of El Paso; grandsons, James (Amanda) Hempstead of Gridley, Rod (Sheena) Hempstead of El Paso, and Matt (Angeline) Hempstead of Downs; ten great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Kyle (Jim) King and Nita Kritkowsky.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Merle Hempstead, grandson, Thomas Hempstead, brother, Charlie Miller, and sister, Edna Schroeder.
