William Armstrong II

William ‘Willi' Wallace Armstrong, II, 63, of Cambria, formerly of Normal, left us on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 7:06 AM at Herrin Hospital in Herrin, Illinois following a massive heart attack.

His funeral service will be at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington. Visitation will be from 3-5:00 p.m. prior to his service at the memorial home.

Per his wishes, Willi will be laid to rest at the Mercer Cemetery in Mercer, Wisconsin, on a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Veterans Memorial Park of Mercer. 4969 N. US Highway 51 Mercer, Wisconsin.

Willi was born on December 30, 1954 in Normal, a son to William Wallace I and Elsie Mae ‘Babe' Marion Armstrong. He married twice before finally meeting his future wife and soulmate, Becky Molina Armstrong, in March of 2003. He moved to the Carbondale, Illinois area later that year to be with her, and they married on March 25, 2006, in Carterville, Illinois.

Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife, Becky Armstrong of Cambria Illinois; his father and partner, William W. Armstrong of Bloomington; two loving sisters, Collette Miller-Sacry of Bloomington and April Becker of Stanford; his stepdaughter, Heather Pierce and grandchildren, Logan and Lucille all of Herrin; stepson, Sean Pierce of Murphysboro, IL; his oldest and dearest friend and brother, Glenn Hermanowicz of Penecook, NH and several nieces, nephews and amazing friends. Willi also leaves his daughter Sara, who he loved with all his heart and he prays that she realizes how much he loved her and thought of her often.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Willi attended Metcalf Laboratory School and U-High, both in Normal, and graduated in 1973 from Mercer High School in Mercer, WI. Willi returned to Bloomington-Normal and started his own electrical contracting business before being recruited by Mitsubishi Motors in Normal, IL. He worked there for 14 years and later at Nestle-Beich in Bloomington, IL for 3 years. Willi joined the Brotherhood of Masons becoming a 32 Degree Mason in Normal, IL.

He shared a love for flying with his father and made his first solo flight at age 16, receiving his private pilot license before his drivers license. Willi had a passion for vintage collectibles and especially loved Coca Cola and Snoopy. He enjoyed collecting and listening to music pre-1970, particularly the Beatles and Bob Dylan. He carried a special place in his heart for Mercer, Wisconsin, where his father bought acreage on the Oxbow River when Willi was 6 years old. Willi loved staying at the family's cabin and went there as often as he could. He introduced many friends to the beauty of the area, wanting to share his love for Mercer and the property with the friends he loved.

Willi touched many lives. His witty humor and love for others will surely be missed by all who knew him.

On behalf of Willi, Love and Peace.
