Willie Powell

Bloomington - Willie D. Powell, 61, of Bloomington, passed away at 8:03 AM on Friday April 23, 2016 at OSF Saint Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.

His memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 from 4-7:00 PM at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington. Cremation will be accorded and a private service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to the family for burial expenses.

Willie was born in Newburn, TN on May 29, 1954, a son to Conzee and Rebecca Smith Powell. He married Cathy Charback in Bloomington on April 3, 1974. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother, Rebecca of Normal; 3 sons, Michael Powell (Jen), Chris Powell (Angela) both of Bloomington and Jason Powell of Champaign,; 6 grandchildren, Alexus, Whitney, Keyara, Bianca, Spencer, Queton; and 2 sisters, Sharon Buchanan of TX, and Debbie (Greg) Wynn of FL.

Willie also leaves behind his nieces Kaleigh and Shara Wynn, Dawn, Michelle, Angela, Joseph and Brandon. His brother-in-law Mike (Peggy) Charback and nieces Jenny and Dana, and sister-in-law Ann (David Nybakke) Charback.

He was preceded in death by his father, brother Sammy, and an infant brother.

Willie retired from General Electric. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed to fishing. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
