Bloomington - Willie "Bill" Orvid Scheel, 74, passed away at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.
A private graveside service was held at Park Hill Cemetery in Bloomington. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Bill was born on January 2, 1947 in Bloomington, a son to Willie Otto and Cecil Mae Gleason Scheel, Sr.
He is survived by his brothers, Willie Otto Scheel, Jr. and Willie Orval Scheel, both of Bloomington; sisters, Cecilia Mae Manley of Naples, Florida and Mary Jo Hornbuckle of Bloomington.
Bill attended Bloomington High School. He worked a job he loved. Bill was a hard worker and was always willing to help others. He loved all animals, but favored cats. Bill was always there for his mom and dad during their lifetime, and also his sister, Mary Jo.
Rest in peace Bill, you deserve it.
I was lucky enough to catch him at home one evening a couple of months ago (this was a rare treat as he was usually at work). We had a wonderful conversation, reminiscing about the past. He had a picture I sent of him holding his youngest nephew, about a month old at the time. I told him that little baby is now driving and counting the days until August when he can get his driver's license. He couldn't believe that many years had passed and that little baby was driving. I am so happy I got to have that conversation with him and will always treasure it.
