Wilma Sliwiak

Normal – Wilma Sliwiak, 75, of Normal, passed away at 1:01 a.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at The Arc Nursing Home in Normal. Private graveside services will be held at Funk’s Grove Cemetery in McLean, Illinois. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.  

Wilma was born on August 7, 1948 in Chicago, a daughter to Raymond and Syrie (Mustonen) Griffith. She married Mark J. Sliwiak on January 31, 1970 in Oak Park, Illinois. He preceded her in death on November 8, 2021. 

Surviving are her daughter, Julie (Edison) Munster of Normal; granddaughters, Alyssa (Hayden) Ford of Bloomington and Amber Munster of Normal; great-grandchildren, Jada Ford, Kenley Ford, and Laurel Ford, all of Bloomington; and her beloved cat, Bambino. 

Wilma worked for 3M for several years as a cashier in the accounting department and then later in sales and accounting for John J. Mariney before retirement. In retirement, she loved to cook and enjoyed photography as a hobby. She was a big animal lover but especially had a fondness for cats. In honor of Wilma’s love of animals, memorial donations may be made to PAWS Chicago.
