Bloomington – Barney Fields, 70, of Bloomington, passed away at 8:27 p.m. on Friday, August 13, 2021 at his home.
His funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington with Rev. David Wayne Brown officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the memorial home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
Barney was born on March 12, 1951 in Mound Bayou, Mississippi, a son to Frank and Ada (Daniels) Fields. He married Oretha Fields, she preceded him in death.
Surviving are his siblings, Barbara Alexander-Harris, Alvin Fields, and Bobbiette Fields, all of Bloomington; many nieces and nephews; daughters, Tanya Dunlap and Makeya Watson of Chicago; and very special friend, Larry Berry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, Wayne Fields.
Barney was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Bloomington. He was known for his quiet, laid-back nature. Barney was a very friendly person and you could always count on his good advice. He was an avid fan of sports. He attended Illinois State University, where he wrestled for them.
